Want to see some beautiful art but don’t feel like spending the day inside a museum? Parc de la Ciutadella is a great place for wandering around, enjoying nature, art and architecture. This is a park where visitors to the city can mix with the locals. Originally a fortress built in the shape of a star for King Felipe V in 1715, the Park was used as a prison during the Napoleonic regime, and has found new life as a public garden and exhibition space. The park is home to the Museum of Natural Science, the Zoo, and the Modern Art Museum, which featuring works by In the northern part of the park you can find La Cascada, a fountain designed jointly by Fontsere and the Gaudi, inspired by the Trevi Fountain in Rome.  Another surprise is the lake, where you can rent a boat and row around for a while. If you’re tired from exploring (and rowing), bring a blanket and enjoy a siesta on the grass.
