Can poetry transcend the language barrier? Well if you’re in Barcelona during the month of May, you will have the opportunity to find out. For a week, a whole series of events have been organised to celebrate poetry. Set in different venues across the city you will have over 100 possibilities to participate in readings, workshops, conferences, lectures and tributes to writers. This year a tribute is being paid to contemporary New York poet John Ashbery. The Grand Finale will be held at the Palau de la Musica, Poets from all over the world will recite their works in their own mother tongue (you can read the translations in the programme) the setting is breathtaking and it really will be a wonderful experience for poetry-lovers. However, now is the time to book your tickets, as there are a fairly limited number available to the general public.
