An exhibition which brings Italy and Spain together “Etruscan Princes” at the CaixaForum in Barcelona is a wonderful opportunity to explore the ancient Etruscan civilization. You can examine the findings of the many studies that have been carried out over recent years. Over 150 pieces are on display, which gives us an insight into Etruscan art, their religious life and social structure. There are more than 150 exhibits on show and each one gives us a better understanding of a people who rivalled the Romans in ancient times, of a civilisation which according to some people are the true founders of our European culture. This exhibition which is running until May 4th concentrates on the on the period between the ninth and third centuries BC, when the civilisation was spreading throughout most of Italy, including Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio. So for all you historians out there, if you happen to be in Barcelona over the Easter period this is an event you really ought to see.
